today i am thankful…

for being the last one up today

for it being that perfect chilly morning where you don’t want to leave the blankets, and you don’t need to

for coming down to my cousin’s house for french toast and bacon and tea

for having a friend and her friends and children come to visit the farm and do chores with me

for the grass that’s finally growing so the sheep and the cows and the goats can graze and not have to eat hay

for the trail run with elizabeth this afternoon 

for laundry drying on the line and for cows for neighbors

for the little goat nick is nursing back to health in our kitchen

for another big dinner at the hay barn tonight

for the pack of halloween-colored oreos i shamelessly finished off today

for this north carolina autumn that is just beginning
