today i am thankful…

for a morning of kissing horses and dog and pig

for our new safer car that nick found us

for living on an island where hurricane preparation still gets me giddy…even though i am going to be offisland for the storm

for our outdoor shower

for nick being as afraid of being eaten by a great white shark as i am….even in 2 feet of water

for breakfast sandwiches with eggs from our neighbors and biscuits from the bread oven up island

for dad playing the piano in the mornings when i wake up and the guitar as i go to sleep

for mom teaching me how to sew and helping me with ayana’s very very belated birthday present

for getting to sneak back into childhood for these past few weeks on the island

for this random cow that we found on the edge of highway 1 so many summers ago
